After the baby shower, Lainey, Stef, Sam, and I decided to grab a few drinks at a newly-discovered jazz bar that’s just near my place. I didn’t know this place existed until LA told me about her band rehearsal. The name of the bar is TAGO Jazz Cafe. Tago in Tagalog means ‘hide’ or ‘hidden’ and surely the bar was located somewhere hidden. But thanks to our Siri (read: Lainey the navigator), Stef was able to drive us there safe and sound.

LA was already rehearsing with some really good musicians when we arrived. It was a special night because we ended up becoming like stage moms and were all cheering for LA. “The crazy fans”, was what the frequenters next to our table must have thought.

The night was also extra special because Stef was with us. She had been MIA for some time, what with all the trips and businesses she does alongside Joel, the husband. We were so thrilled by her presence. Same old wacky Stef.

Lainey and Sam catching up on some stuff.

Them again this time with the future jazz sensation.

Well, there’s your triumvirate.

And finally a picture of me with them.

This had also been the night when one of us was drowning her heartache in alcohol. Enters Stef to the rescue. It’s a known fact that she tends to give the best (and philosophical) advice when tipsy. She was all, “Communication! You have to communication!”

All three of us burst into laughter.

It was rather epic because we all witnessed the sudden crushing of Stef’s excellent English skills. She had a few bottles, so she’s forgiven.

Before calling it a night, we all agreed to hang out and to ‘communication’ soonest.
